December 2024 Update: InfoLit – Core Content

Follow

We have new content for InfoLit – Core reflecting the continued need for materials on generative AI and changes published recently in the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition. The new & updated content will be made live in your course between December 23, 2024 and early January 2025. The changes are as follows:

New Material

In the Faculty Module section:

  • New tutorial: Teaching Resources: AI Literacy, which offers activities and discussion prompts related to generative AI. These aim to help students to understand the possible pitfalls of using AI and the best ways to use it ethically and responsibly if they are allowed to do so.

Updated Material

In the Citations section:

  • Newly updated video: Chicago Style, 18th ed. Books and eBooks, which reflects new guidance from the recently released Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition, on how to cite print books and ebooks (it is no longer necessary to cite the city of publication of books or ebooks).
  • Updated video title: We will duplicate the video Chicago Style 17th ed. Journals so that there is a version of the same video called Chicago Style 18th ed. Journals, since the Chicago Manual of Style hasn’t specified any changes to citations of journals.
  • Updated video title: We will duplicate the video Chicago Style 17th ed. Websites and Social Media so that there is a version of the same video called Chicago Style 18th ed. Websites and Social Media, since the Chicago Manual of Style hasn’t specified any changes to citations of those sources.
  • Updated quiz: The Chicago Style 18th ed. quiz will have its questions and answers changed to reflect the new guidance on citing print and ebooks. The quiz on the 17th edition of Chicago Style will remain available.
  • Updated Post-Test: The Post-Test question bank will have the relevant questions and answers changed to reflect the new guidance on citing print and ebooks.
